Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib has held several meetings with Turkish officials to discuss increasing trade exchange to hit $15B. This came during his visit to the Turkey, where he held several meetings in Istanbul to enhance bilateral economic cooperation, as part of his participation in the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), the 41st Ministerial Session held November 1-4 in Istanbul, Turkey. He said Egypt implements ambitious plans to modernize the business environment, including reducing customs clearance time to only two days by the end of the current year, and working to reach the top 20 globally in commercial competitiveness indicators by 2030. Immediately upon his arrival in Istanbul, Khatib met with the heads of major Turkish textile and apparel companies in a meeting organized by the Joint Egyptian-Turkish Business Council. The purpose was to discuss cooperation and review the promising investment opportunities currently available in Egypt, especially in industrial fields with high added value. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hatem Al-Alfy, Consul General of Egypt in Istanbul, Minister Plenipotentiary for Commercial Affairs Ali Basha and Head of the Commercial Office in Istanbul.
