India’s education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday inaugurated the Atal Incubation Centre at the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus. It is the a first-ever Atal Incubation Centre hosted in an Indian university overseas, the minister stated on microblogging site, X. He added that he took a tour of the Abu Dhabi campus of IIT Delhi and interacted with the students.
“Glad to inaugurate Atal Incubation Centre at the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus, a first-ever AIC hosted in an Indian university overseas. The AIC at IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi will nurture joint start-ups and research-led ventures by both Indian and UAE innovators and also promote bilateral collaboration in deep tech, AI, clean energy, healthcare and other sectors of mutual importance. The AIC providing world-class incubation facilities will also act as a gateway to the middle-east markets for Indian start-ups and innovators,” the education minister posted on X.

Pradhan is visiting the United Arab Emirates on September 10 and 11, 2025, for an official two-day trip. The visit aims to enhance cooperation in education, promote academic excellence and innovation, and explore new partnership opportunities to meet the aspirations of students and youth from both countries, according to a Ministry of Education press statement.
On Thursday, September 11, the minister will inaugurate the Dubai campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, alongside H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, UAE Minister of Higher Education. Later, he will attend a Round Table Conference of Indian Higher Education institutions in the UAE.
Pradhan will also participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drive at the Consulate, interact with CBSE school principals during a Teachers’ Day celebration, and launch Atal Tinkering Labs in Indian schools in the UAE.
