The Old Dr Bells Baths on Great Junction Street in Leith took to social media to reveal that it will close its doors for good on December 31. The venue said it is working with people affected by the closure, as no doubt many couples will have to find alternative venues for their big day next year. In a Facebook post, those behind the venture said: “After six wonderful years of weddings and events, it is with deep sadness that we share - The Old Dr Bells Baths will be closing permanently on 31st December 2025. “We are working closely with all our clients and couples affected by this news. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your love stories and memories — it has been an honour.” Locals reacted with shock and sadness at the closure of the landmark venue, which is described as a “beautifully restored Victorian bathhouse, set in the heart of Edinburgh, which offers a unique and elegant setting to host your wedding day”. One local resident said: “Your tenure has been transformative. The moments you have created, the lives you have changed through your programmes, and the incredible transformation you have made to this building are held in the utmost respect and love by our entire community. You didn't just run a business; you created a vibrant hub and filled these walls with life.” Another added: “Very said to hear this, Rob and I had a brilliant wedding party there back in July 2023, made all the better with the care and attention of Hanane and the team. Such a great venue!” Another member of the community said: “Sorry to hear this. Had many a happy night there. Wishing you all the best moving forward.”
