Edinburgh restaurant crowned best in Scotland at 2025 Asian Restaurant Awards

An Edinburgh restaurant has been named Scotland’s International Asian Restaurant of the Year. The eatery took home the prize at the 2025 Asian Restaurant Awards this week. On Monday, September 15, the winners of the 2025 Asian Restaurant Awards were revealed a gala dinner in Manchester. The awards, which are organised by the Asian Catering Federation, celebrate the best Asian cuisines , restaurants, and takeaways across the UK. The winner of the prestigious International Asian Restaurant of the Year award for Scotland is Kebabish Original in Edinburgh. The restaurant is situated on Dalry Road, a short distance from the city centre. Kebabish Original specialises in grills and curries from India, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Mediterranean. It also offers a variety of desserts and drinks . In addition to being named the best international Asian restaurant in Scotland, Kebabish Original has earned positive reviews from customers. On Google , the restaurant has an overall rating of 4.1 out of five after 1,589 reviews. One visitor shared: “This is our third time here and as always, we had a lovely meal. The service is always amazing. “We came here on a Monday afternoon so it was really quiet but still really nice. Will be back again.” A second echoed: “Amazing food and service. Minced beef kebab was amazing. “Vegetarian samosas were also seasoned so well and the dough was perfect. “Chicken tikka masala was just what we needed for variety in Scotland. Must come here.” The 2025 Asian Restaurant Awards dinner was held at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel and was hosted by broadcast journalist and BBC TV News anchor Samantha Simmonds. It featured a guest appearance from Anisa Khan, who is the owner of Bombay Pizza in South London and a finalist in this year’s BBC programme The Apprentice. Other winners at Asian Restaurant Awards 2025 include CEO of Westbourne Spice Tayab Khan, who won Business Person of the Year and Akbar’s in Manchester—which took home the National Award for Asian Restaurant of the Year 2025 for England. Meanwhile, Restaurant Group of the Year was won by Madhu’s Group, Royal Nawaab Pyramid in Stockport won National Buffet Restaurant of the Year, and Babaji in Sunderland scooped Best Authentic Asian Cuisine. Chair of the Asian Catering Federation Yawar Khan said: “The food industry’s resilience, hard work, and passion are what bring it success. Each year, at the Asian Restaurant Awards International in Manchester we celebrate excellence, and today’s winners truly deserve their places as best in the country. “These are the businesses that allow the Asian food industry to continue to thrive, despite the many challenges currently faced by the hospitality sector, in particular the new immigration rules in the UK, and the fees charged by online platforms.
