Edie Falco’s Emmy-Winning Comedy Streams Again

Edie Falco's Emmy-Winning Comedy Streams Again

Weeks before Edie Falco joins the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown, the Sopranos star’s award-winning comedy series Nurse Jackie is heading to a new streaming home. Falco starred on The Sopranos alongside James Gandolfini from 1999 to 2007.
After the iconic HBO series ended, the actress went on to appear in such show as Nurse Jackie, Law & Order True Crime, Tommy, Impeachment: American Crime Story and Bupkis, as well as films like Avatar: The Way of Water.
Nurse Jackie debuted a mere two years after The Sopranos ended and aired for seven seasons. Falco starred as Jackie Peyton, a nurse dealing with addiction alongside all the other stresses in her life and career.
Across its entire run on the air, the dark comedy earned 24 nominations at the Emmys. Falco won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and received five total nominations at the Emmys.
Netflix announced that all seven seasons of Falco’s Showtime comedy Nurse Jackie will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 7. This isn’t the first time the series has streamed on Netflix. Nurse Jackie was previously available on the streaming service before being removed in 2020.
Since then, it has only been released on Philo and other similar services, as well as the option to buy the series digitally.
What Nurse Jackie Rejoining Netflix Means
Netflix’s announcement about Nurse Jackie comes amid the major news that Falco is joining the cast of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, premiering October 26, in which she’ll play a prison warden named Nina Hobbs.
The Paramount+ drama, which stars Jeremy Renner, Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Derek Webster and Hamish Allan-Headley, is about the McLusky family’s attempts to balance peace and power in a town where incarceration plays a central role.
Falco is best known for her dramatic roles on shows like The Sopranos. However, her range and skills as an actress span multiple genres, including delving into comedies like Nurse Jackie, which was more of a dark comedy that allowed the actress to shine in an environment she knew best while also proving she could branch out beyond Carmela Soprano.
Ahead of her Mayor of Kingstown debut, Nurse Jackie returning to Netflix will remind fans of Falco’s talent and allow them to watch and re-watch a critically acclaimed series that was must-see TV when it originally aired on Showtime.
Our Take On Nurse Jackie’s Return To Netflix
When Nurse Jackie originally left Netflix in 2020, it’s been really hard to find good streaming options for the series. As mentioned, it was available on Philo. For fans who wanted to own the full series, services like Apple TV and Prime Video had that option.
However, not everyone has Philo or wants to own a digital copy of a TV show.
