The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday summoned former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh and Bollywood actor Sonu Sood for questioning in connection with an alleged online betting-linked money laundering investigation, according to PTI sources. The central probe agency set the date for the ex cricket star’s questioning as September 23 and Sood’s questioning for the next day. Earlier in the day, PTI had reported that ex cricketer Robin Uthappa has also been summoned for questioning on September 22. Meanwhile, so far Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan have been questioned in the last few weeks. The ED is probing alleged illegal betting applications that reportedly duped investors and the public of crores of rupees while also evading substantial taxes. Authorities are examining the financial transactions linked to these platforms to trace any violations under anti-money laundering laws. The probe reportedly involves apps such as 1xBet, a globally recognized bookmaker operating for over 18 years. The platform allowed customers to place bets on thousands of sporting events, and its website and app are available in 70 languages, according to company statements. The ED is examining whether funds routed through such platforms were involved in laundering illicit proceeds, and whether taxes on winnings and operations were properly accounted for.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
