Officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) raided the premises of a Chinese national, Du Yongan, at Renigunta near Tirupati on Thursday.
It was learnt that Du Yongan was running a hotel named ‘Big Kitchen’ serving Chinese cuisine to the scores of Chinese nationality workers employed in the industrial units located in and around Renigunta. According to information, the raid reportedly took place under the suspicion that Du Yongan had heavily defaulted on taxes from his business income.
The ED and IB officials from New Delhi and Chennai reached his scrap godown in Yerpedu and its premises and verified the documents. His financial transactions, running into crores of rupees, are under the scanner for reportedly being routed to China. He is also learnt to have married a local woman.
Meanwhile, Du Yong has already been under the watchful eyes of the district police for violation of visa norms, tax defaults and operating numerous firms under different names in the past.
It may be recalled that Du Yongan was arrested by Renigunta police in 2021 for the cases booked against him for visa violation, forgery and unauthorised stay. His passport was seized and submitted to the Tirupati court. As the case is currently under investigation, Du Yong has been staying locally and reportedly running his business without any hassles.
Meanwhile, officials of various banks also arrived at the venue to extend cooperation to the investigation officials. When contacted by The Hindu, Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu confirmed the arrival of the ED and IB officials to carry out the raid in Du Yongan’s premises.
