ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that polling for three vacant seats in the Punjab Provincial Assembly—PP-115 and PP-116, Faisalabad— and PP-269 Muzaffargarh will be held on November 23.
The seats fell vacant following the disqualification of Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Shahid Javed and Muhammad Ismael. The ECP confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
According to the official schedule, the returning officers will issue public notices on Oct 10. Candidates may submit their nomination papers from Oct 13 to 15, with the initial list of candidates being published on Oct 16.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by Oct 20. Any appeals regarding the acceptance or rejection of papers can be filed until Oct 24, with final decisions to be announced by Oct 31. Final lists of candidates will be published on Nov 01.
Candidates will then be allowed to withdraw their nomination papers on Nov 03, while the election symbols will be allotted on Nov 04.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has finalized appointments for the upcoming by-elections in constituencies PP-115 and PP-116, designating senior administrative officials to oversee the electoral process.
Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad, Captain (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir, has been appointed as the District Returning Officer for both constituencies.
The commission has also named Ashfaq Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner HRM and Coordination, as the Returning Officer for PP-115, while Imran Asmat Pannu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, will serve as the Returning Officer for PP-116.
Supporting the electoral operations, MST Asmat Firdous, Deputy Child Officer at the Municipal Corporation Faisalabad, and Mansoor Akhtar Ghouri, District Education Officer (Literacy), have been assigned as Assistant Returning Officers for PP-115.
For PP-116, Zahid Gill, Tehsildar (City), and Muhammad Nabeel Iftikhar, Assistant Education Officer (M-5), City Faisalabad, will perform duties as Assistant Returning Officers.
Similarly, Muhammad Usman Tahir, Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffargarh, will oversee the PP-269 elections in his capacity as District Returning Officer. Khizer Zahoor, Assistant Commissioner of Muzaffargarh, has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the constituency. Additionally, Abdul Rehman, Deputy Director of Colleges, and Muhammad Shahid Ali, Deputy Director of Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD), Muzaffargarh, will serve as Assistant Returning Officers for PP-269.
