easyJet now connects Almería and Liverpool for the first time, opening new tourism and winter-sun opportunities between Spain and the UK. The route finally takes off easyJet’s long-awaited Almeria-Liverpool route is now officially in service. The first flight departed on Tuesday 28 October, connecting Andalucia’s southeast coast with the North West of England in just under three hours. Operating twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the new connection gives passengers a direct alternative to longer journeys via Malaga, Madrid or Barcelona. For Almeria, it opens up a valuable UK market that has so far relied mostly on flights from London, Manchester or Birmingham. The service is part of easyJet’s winter 2025 expansion, which introduces several new Mediterranean destinations aimed at improving connectivity from regional UK airports. Tourism officials in Almeria have welcomed the move, calling it a timely boost for the province’s international visibility and visitor numbers. A big boost for tourism and regional ties With approximately 320 days of sunshine each year, Almeria stands out as one of Europe’s brightest winter-sun destinations. The route is expected to support Almeria’s ongoing strategy to attract visitors beyond the summer months, helping extend hotel occupancy beyond the traditional summer period. Local businesses along the Cabo de Gata-Nijar coast have already reported increased enquiries from British travellers since easyJet announced the service earlier this year. For many, the connection represents not just convenience, but a sign that Almeria is finally earning its place among Spain’s most accessible holiday regions. . A cultural twist – and shout The launch also carries a symbolic connection, as the Liverpool John Lennon Airport now connects directly to the city where Lennon stayed in 1966 while filming How I Won the War – and where he began writing the iconic Beatles track Strawberry Fields Forever. It’s a fitting link between two creative cities – one steeped in music history, the other in southern Spanish light. Whether bound for beaches or the Beatles’ city Flights operate every Tuesday and Saturday, with fares starting from around €17 one way via easyJet’s website. For travellers from the UK’s North West seeking a quieter, sunnier escape this winter – Almeria is now just one easyJet flight away.
