EastEnders star Michelle Ryan told her fans that ‘it’s been a while’ as she opened up about going on a ‘date’ in a romance update. The actress made her return to the BBC soap on a fulltime basis in the role of Zoe Slater for the first time in 20 years back in September. Michelle has been at the heart of the action on Albert Square , with Zoe desperately trying to locate her long-lost son, who it was revealed she gave birth to in 2006. The flashback sequence also revealed that Zoe had a daughter , who she believes died while she was giving birth after a nurse said she needed to talk to her. Having already been shot by Ravi Gulati and Jack Branning, Zoe’s actions has left her friends and family concerned that she's struggling with her mental health. On top of Halloween night seeing her suffering a fall after hearing a noise in the Queen Vic that no one else heard, Zoe has discovered a number of pictures with her in them have been vandalised. With her former boyfriend Anthony Trueman fearing she’s having a ‘breakdown’, it remains to be seen what the direction Zoe is going in heading into the busy Christmas season. While she tends to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, Michelle took to Instagram on Tuesday night (November 4) to reveal she was going on a date. Sharing images from a restuarnnt which already had its festive decorations up, one of the pictures showed a rose in a glass box which read ‘incase of love at first sight, break glass’. Michelle captioned the post: “A quick pit stop before a date tonight at a cool little place in Mayfair. “With an ironic piece of art up on the wall…..then on to a delicious sushi meal. It’s been a while since I’ve had a date night.” The comments section of the post saw Michelle’s fans wishing her good luck ahead of her date with the mystery man. @mjfouldespoetry said: “Oh that sounds lovely and it looks a nice place that was chosen! I hope you had a lovely time and it was a positive experience.” @stephshannonsbookstagram added: “Cool lookin pics, hope you had a great time.” @tonyrjones1234 wrote: “Hope you had a great evening Michelle.” @carnival_horror_creations posted: “Hope you had an amazing night @winkie58 commented: “Aww lovely enjoy your date night.” @jessrusso86 stated: “Awh what a very lucky person to be in the presence of your company! Happy date to you.” Asked by one fan if there was going to be a ‘date two’, Michelle replied with a smiley face and a winky face emoji. Returning to Instagram on Wednesday (November 5), the actress was in a good mood as she shared an image of flowers she spotted at her gym’s cafe. “What blooms to walk in on at the gym cafe this morning! Beautiful. Accupucture can really let you know what your body is feeling, where the aches are. “And a little ladybird flew in whilst I was drinking my double espresso. Lucky sign I think,” she teased.
