EastEnders fans are saying that they’ve ‘worked out’ what’s ‘really happening’ with Zoe Slater after the latest twist involving her kids. Viewers learned shortly after Michelle Ryan returned to playing the character for the first time in 20 years that Zoe gave birth to twins in 2006. Assuming that her daughter died after a nurse told her she had ‘bad news’, Zoe gave her son up for adoption and fled from the hospital. Since returning to Walford, Zoe has been on a mission to find her son, getting involved with various private investigators in hope of locating him. Last week saw the residents of Walford turn against her after her claim that Sharon Watts’ late husband Dennis Rickman was the kids’ dad was exposed as a lie. With Sharon moving to America after being left heartbroken, Zoe’s mum Kat Slater told her she needs to make up for what she did or leave Albert Square. Things went from bad to worse for Zoe on Halloween night when she discovered someone damaged a picture of her and Kat. Claiming that someone is after her, Anthony Trueman’s claims to Kat that she’s having a ‘psychotic breakdown’ appeared to be proven true when she heard a noise in the house that none of the Slaters noticed. In scenes aired on Monday (November 3), Kat did her best to support Zoe, but Alfie Moon insisted he believes there is no foul-play. Zoe later met with the private investigator who revealed that Sharon has pulled her funds from the investigation, and she needs more money to continue. Zoe’s day went from bad to worse when Kat and Alfie told her they’re unable to give her the cash and Freddie Slater informed her that her cat had gone missing. Vicki Fowler mocked Zoe as she searched for her cat as Anthony offered Zoe an olive branch after she accused him of targeting her. The episode ended on a dour note back at The Vic, where Zoe, Kat and Alfie were horrified to discover someone had defaced the Slater family photos. Over on the EastEnders Reddit page, fans of the soap are convinced that not only is Zoe vandalising the family’s items herself, but that she might have made up having kids in the first place. @DanielCollinsYT said: “That was a snoozefest.
