EastEnders fans 'work out' disturbing Christmas plot as Zoe Slater is haunted by mystery stalker

EastEnders has recently aired some distressing scenes involving Zoe Slater, leading fans to believe they've cracked the mystery surrounding her stalking nightmare. In the latest episodes of the popular BBC One soap , Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan) has been on a desperate quest to locate her long-lost son, whom she abandoned at birth back in 2006. However, after falsely claiming that Dennis Rickman (portrayed by Nigel Harman) was the father of her child, his heartbroken ex-wife, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) , withdrew financial support for Zoe's private investigator who had been tasked with finding the estranged teenager. On Monday (3rd November), Zoe was still recovering from a harrowing Halloween experience where she found herself trapped in The Queen Vic's barrel store, fearing for her life. Upon hearing her daughter's screams for help, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) was horrified to find Zoe's hands smeared with blood, following her claims of an intruder breaking into the pub. A video featuring Kat and her abusive uncle Harry, who is also Zoe's father, was deliberately shown to the pub's patrons, reports the Daily Star . Adding to Zoe's woes, her beloved car has now disappeared, leaving her frantically searching for her pet, believing this to be another scheme to torment her. However, her concerns about her missing cat were quickly overshadowed when a private investigator revealed progress in locating her son, but refused to share any details due to Sharon's withdrawal from the case. Zoe pleaded with the PI to reveal what she had discovered about her son, but was told she would need to pay an additional £3,000. Later, Zoe was shocked to find photos of the Slater family plastered on the Vic's living room wall, with her face ominously crossed out in each picture. EastEnders fans have been speculating that her ex-boyfriend and close mate, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), might be behind these unsettling acts. However, a new theory suggests that Zoe might be suffering from a form of psychosis and is actually doing these disturbing things herself. One fan took to Reddit to share their thoughts: "Zoe's son is dead - The Zoe Psycho Theory". They elaborated: "I think the particular choice of Psycho being the clearly seen movie Zoe chose to watch is clever foreshadowing by the writers of what is really going on in Zoe's storyline. "After years of emotional trauma, Zoe has created a split personality to cope with her pain. There's no stalker, no intruder, no long-lost son coming to the show. It's all in Zoe's mind." Another viewer commented: "This feels like a spoiler", while another added: "I said on here last week, it wouldn't surprise me if abandoned twins weren't a figment of her imagination and she is suffering a mental health crisis / breakdown." "I would love it if this were the Christmas storyline. A real breath of fresh air!" one viewer excitedly suggested. Meanwhile, another viewer shared their thoughts: "I had suspected last week that all these 'incidents' happening to Zoe she's doing to herself. The thing with looking for the missing cat is clearly meant to mirror her looking for her child. There's mental illness in the family too, so I'm surprised in a way that nobody's been doubting her a lot apart from Kat." EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
