Grand Cayman, October 29, 2025 – Early childhood education will take centre stage at the upcoming LIFE Literacy Conference 2025, underscoring how a child’s earliest years shape their learning journey. The event, takes place on Saturday, November 1 at the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, under the theme “Early Childhood: Strong Start, Strong Future”. The one-day conference will feature findings from an early childhood education report produced by LIFE with assistance from KPMG. The report – “From Play to Progress: Strengthening Early Childhood Education in the Cayman Islands” – offers a data-driven analysis of Cayman’s early-years landscape, and practical steps to build a stronger foundation for lifelong learning. This event marks the first time the report’s findings will be shared publicly. International early childhood education authority Dr. Dan Wuori, Founder and President of Early Childhood Policy Solutions (USA), will deliver a keynote address “The Daycare Myth: What We Get Wrong About Early Care and Education (And What We Should Do About It)”. His presentation will explore global best practices and their relevance to Cayman’s early learning enviroment. Other presenters include Dr. Shannon Seymour of The Wellness Centre and Dr. Nicola Williams of Cooperative Nurturing Care, addressing topics such as early brain development, equity, and excellence in the early years. In his keynote address, Hon. Rolston Anglin, Minister for Education and Training, will share his vision for early childhood education. The agenda also includes two panel discussions with leading early childhood and literacy experts, bringing together local and international voices to explore practical ways to strengthen early learning, and close Cayman’s literacy gap. LIFE Chair, Woody Foster, said the conference brings focus and urgency to an issue that affects every community in Cayman. “When children start school ready to learn, it strengthens our entire society – from education and employment to wellbeing and opportunity,” he said. “This conference is about turning research and expertise into real progress for our youngest learners.” “The response has been incredible,” said Erica Dell’Oglio, Executive Director of LIFE. “It’s inspiring to see parents, educators, policymakers, and community leaders come together around one shared goal – ensuring every child in Cayman has the opportunity to reach their full potential in life.” Attendance is free, but registration is required at www.lifeconference.ky.
