Tonight's clash between the Eagles (6-2) and the Packers (5-2-1) promises to be one of the best Monday Night Football games of the season. This is a huge contest in the battle for the 1-seed in the NFC (and homefield advantage in the playoffs), as the loser will fall further behind the Seahawks and the Rams, who are both 7-2 after blowout wins yesterday. Green Bay won't be lacking for motivation after losing to Carolina last Sunday and dropping both of its matchups vs. the Eagles a year ago. The Packers opened the 2024 season with a close loss to Jalen Hurts and Co. in Brazil, and their season ended with an ugly loss to the Eagles in the wild card round of the playoffs last January. The Eagles are coming off of a Week 9 bye and should be close to 100 percent healthy, with one key exception. Green Bay, on the other hand, just lost star tight end Tucker Kraft to a season-ending knee injury, and it could be without multiple key starters on both sides of the football tonight. Otherwise, they're nearly at full strength on both offense and defense. Philly's D should get a boost tonight from the return of linebacker Nolan Smith. He's listed as questionable (triceps) for what could be his first action since Week 3. Smith was a full participant in the Eagles' last practice, and he was activated off Injured Reserve on Monday afternoon. With that in mind, the only question is not whether he'll play, but what his role will be. Read More Latest Green Bay Packers Injury News (Monday, November 10) The Packers are missing not only Kraft, but two defensive starters in DE Lukas van Ness and cornerback Nate Hobbs. On the offensive side of the ball, four Packers were listed as questionable as of Monday afternoon: starting right tackle Zach Tom and wide receivers Matthew Golden, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams. While Golden was a DNP in Green Bay's last practice, Tom, Wicks and Williams all participated on a limited basis. Green Bay welcomed back Christian Watson for just his second game of this season last Sunday. Still, if Golden, Wicks and/or Williams are ruled out, the Packers are going to have a tough time taking advantage of a Philly defense that just made multiple trades to improve its depth chart at cornerback. Eagles vs. Packers Prediction, Best Bets Against The Spread There's no denying Green Bay's ceiling, but I'll believe this offense can thrive without Kraft when I see it. The third-year tight end has been the biggest weapon for Green Bay all season, with 32 catches for 489 yards and 6 touchdowns on 44 targets. His absence could be a major issue in the red zone, where his team struggled in last week's loss to Carolina. On the year, nearly half (6/13) of Jordan Love's TD passes have gone to No. 85. Statistically, the Packers boast a stout run D, but the Panthers showed last week that sticking to the ground game can pay dividends against this defense. The Eagles know this well after getting a pair of huge games from Barkley when these teams met last year (49 total carries for 218 yards and two TDs). I expect Green Bay to play well early after last week's disappointing loss, but I can't resist the Eagles, who are the healthier team and the one with fewer question marks, IMO, until the Packers show that they can A) move the ball and B) finish drives without Kraft.
