The New York Giants are set to host the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football to open up Week 6 of the NFL season.
The Eagles were off to an undefeated start, but dropped their first game of the season to the Denver Broncos last week as they were outscored 18-0 in the fourth quarter.
The Giants are 1-1 since rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart took over for Russell Wilson ahead of Week 4, but are coming off a disappointing loss to the New Orleans Saints, allowing them to collect their first win of 2025.
Will the Eagles improve to 5-1, or will the Giants get back on track and move to 2-4 on Thursday Night Football? The staff at Newsweek Sports has some insight.
Noah Camras: The Eagles and Giants are both coming off disappointing losses last week, and will look to bounce back in an NFC East battle. The Eagles are the much better team, but playing on the road on Thursday night against a divisional opponent is never easy. Jaxson Dart will continue to impress, but he’ll have to prevent the turnovers he had last week if the Giants want any chance at an upset. It won’t happen.
Prediction: Eagles 24, Giants 17
Gabe Smallson: The Giants have emerged as one of the most exciting young teams in the league, headlined by Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo. Their loss to the Saints last week, however, showed some of their glaring flaws, ultimately getting exploited by a winless team. The Giants have given up the fifth-most yards in the league this season, and have the second-fewest takeaways. The defending-champion Eagles, on the other hand, are coming off a frustrating loss of their own, but will have no issues against New York, getting their offense back on track and flying back into the win column.
Prediction: Eagles 31, Giants 14
Aaron Coloma: The Eagles visit the Giants in another TNF divisional matchup, and both teams are coming off of Week 4 losses in games they probably should’ve won. The Giants’ offense looks a little better under Jaxson Dart, and will probably keep the game closer than many will think. But it won’t be good enough to push past the defending Super Bowl champions.
Prediction: Eagles 31, Giants 23
Nelson Espinal: The Eagles fumbled the lead against the Broncos in devastating fashion, allowing a Bo Nix-led offense to drive down the field multiple times in the fourth quarter. The Giants, meanwhile, were terrible against the Saints, playing one of the worst games from a football team this season. Neither team comes into the game with much momentum, but the Giants looked especially lifeless on offense, making Thursday night’s game poised to be a complete demolition. Saquon Barkley will rush for more than 120 yards, while A.J. Brown will get featured more on offense as well. Jaxson Dart will get a true “Welcome to the NFL moment.”
Prediction: Eagles 42, Giants 13
