E.O. Smith Student From Willington Initiates Project To Bring Cutting Edge Printer To Public Library

"Together, we can make our library not just a place for books, but a hub for innovation and creativity." WILLINGTON, CT — An E.O. Smith High School student from Willington is starting an initiative to raise funds for a 3D printer for the Willington Public library. The intent, said Library director Steve Osier, is "to bring 3D printing technology to the community." The is being led by E.O. Smith senior Abdurahman Pelletier and it is aiming to raise $455 to $678 to purchase and install a high-quality 3D printer at the library. "This addition will give Willington residents access to cutting-edge tools for creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning. Many libraries across Connecticut already provide 3D printing services and host STEM programs, and this initiative will ensure Willington is part of that growing network of opportunity," Osier said. Once funded, Pelletier will offer introductory workshops on 3D printing, helping patrons explore design, engineering, and problem-solving in an accessible and engaging way. He will also develop a training guideline for staff to assist patrons and a reference handout. Said library officials, "Community members are encouraged to support the fundraiser and help make 3D printing accessible to everyone in Willington by visiting the library, where a donation box will be located, or by going to www.gofundme.com/3dwillington." Said Pelletier, "Together, we can make our library not just a place for books, but a hub for innovation and creativity."
