Schools in Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh will remain closed for the 2025 Dussehra festival. The duration of holidays will vary across each state. Students, parents, and teachers are advised to note the dates and plan accordingly.
Karnataka: Schools will be closed from September 20 to October 6, 2025, for Dussehra. Classes will resume on October 7, 2025 across the state. These holidays apply to government, private, CBSE, and CISCE schools. It is the usual annual break given on the occasion of Dussehra. (News18 Tamil)
Some CBSE schools in the Dakshina Kannada region may reopen a few days earlier, on October 3, 2025. Parents and students are advised to check with their respective schools for exact holiday schedules. Schools may also adjust holidays due to Diwali and Christmas breaks later in the year.
Certain schools may shorten the Dussehra holidays to manage the overall academic calendar. SSLC students preparing for the 2026 board exams may have extra classes during this period.
Telangana: Schools in Telangana will be closed from September 21 to October 3, 2025 for Dussehra. Students here will get a total of 13 days of holidays, longer than other states.
Andhra Pradesh: The government has announced nine days of Dussehra holidays from September 24 to October 2, 2025. Schools will reopen on October 3, 2025. These holidays are applicable to all schools in the state, including government and private institutions.
Officials in all three states have urged students, teachers, and parents to make good use of the Dussehra holidays.
