Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko has asked the Central Public Works Department to prepare a fresh estimate to renovate the Government Youth Hostel attached to the Mera Yuva Bharat - MY Bharat office in Tiruchi. In a statement, he said he visited the office of the Mera Yuva Bharat - MY Bharat (previously known as Nehru Yuva Kendra) under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Youth Hostel attached to it on Sunday. The Youth Hostel was providing subsidised accommodation to the youth and students belonging to the poorer sections pursuing academics, research and sports. However, maintenance work at the Youth Hostel, including that of discharge of wastewater, had not been undertaken in the last four years because of which the facility was not under use. Further, it was surrounded by bushes. Mr. Durai Vaiko said officials concerned informed him that an estimate to renovate the youth hostel was sent three years ago. He said upon receiving the fresh estimate, he would take it up with the Union Minister concerned.
