Dundee have gone to the Scottish Football Association and asked for clarity on why they weren’t given a weekend penalty against Falkirk. The Dark Blues were left bemused as to why the spot kick wasn’t given for Kyrell Wilson’s foul on Ethan Hamilton. Club officials made contact with referee chief Willie Collum on Monday morning and are now awaiting his official response. The Dundee midfielder was left by stud marks after the challenge but referee Ross Hardie gave the decision to Falkirk. Bizarrely, VAR didn’t intervene either even though the television footage was pretty clear that the decision should have gone Dundee's way It was at a time when Dundee were 1-0 up and that proved to be a game-changing decision. Wilson was also on a booking and could have gone off and Dundee could have doubled their lead but instead they ended up losing 2-1 to the Bairns. Dundee head coach Steven Pressley also sought clarity after the game from the referee’s supervisor. The defeat was a setback to Dundee because Pressley believed they deserved to take something. He claimed: “I thought the first half against Falkirk, we saw real improvements. “We put on a good stable performance, although there were still elements of it that we can improve on. “The signs were encouraging but we just had a 15 to 20 minute spell at the weekend where we didn’t quite do the fundamentals and weren’t aggressive as we had been. “We also lost a poor second goal, that was a real hammer blow because the minimum we should have had was a point." Pressley still believes that his team are making progress and that was shown with the recent win over Celtic, but knows there will be ups and downs along the way. He admitted:“I think we are moving in the right direction. “We are a little more crystallised. “It has taken a bit of time, with the players coming in and us trying to transition. The Aberdeen game has allowed us to take stock and look more at the short, medium and long-term. “It was a real rough couple of weeks for us as a group. If we hadn’t had the severity of the result we may not have reset the same. “It allowed us to have a clear idea of how we were going to move forward.“We have worked hard and really focused on that. “We know how we can improve but we are also aware that there are also going to be some big challenges coming into this period. “We know how we are going to play but we also know there are going to be bumps along the way. “There will be other Aberdeen games but we are now clear on how we are going to achieve our short and medium-term. “We have to be a team that is always challenging within games. “I think the margins in all the games out with Aberdeen have been so tight. We have to find a way of coming out on the positive side of things.”
