Driving into Uttarakhand to get costlier: Green Tax on outside vehicles from Dec 1 to curb pollution

Starting December 1, 2025, vehicles entering Uttarakhand from other states will have to pay a Green Tax. The initiative aims to curb vehicular pollution and protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Tax rates range from ₹80 for small vehicles to ₹700 for heavy trucks. ANPR cameras at border points will automatically capture vehicle data for enforcement.
