Driver Dies as High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash at South Pasadena Home; Police Terminate Pursuit Prior to Accident

Early Friday morning, a high-speed chase ended tragically when a car crashed into the garage of a South Pasadena home, resulting in the death of the driver; officials from the Pasadena Police Department chose to terminate the pursuit due to the reckless behavior of the suspect, later finding the car overturned at the home’s garage, as reported by KCAL News.

The incident, which occurred on Orange Grove Avenue near Arroyo Park around 5:05 a.m., has not led to any other known injuries; however, the South Pasadena Police Department has verified that the pursuit was called off before the fatal accident. FOX 11 included information provided by the police department, indicating the driver continued to maneuver erratically before the crash.

There was considerable damage to the property, as evident from the aerial footage shot by ABC7’s AIR7, showing the vehicle had pierced through a fence and pillar before embedding itself in the structure, and while a sheet seen next to the wreckage implied a fatality, the confirmation of death came through in the subsequent reports from ABC7.

As of this time, the name of the deceased has not been released, leaving the community with questions about the circumstances leading up to this high-speed pursuit and its fatal conclusion, the identity of the person lost is still unknown adding a layer of mystery to a morning that has seen Orange Grove Avenue closed to traffic between the 110 Freeway and Columbia Street to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the incident.
