Mysuru, Oct. 25- Stating that scholar Dr. M.M. Kalburgi had a vast literary knowledge and excellence in research, veteran scholar of the city Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Shastry said that Dr. Kalburgi was a known literary critique and social analyst. He was speaking after presenting ‘Dr. M.M. Kalburgi National Award’ to senior scholar of Mysuru Dr. N.S. Taranath at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Dharwad-based Dr. M.M. Kalburgi Rashtriya Pratishtana, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), Manasagangothri and the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK), Manasagangothri, at B.M. Shri auditorium, KIKS, yesterday. “Dr. Kalburgi became famous through his writings and advocacies, straight forward reviews and critiques of literary works, which over the time became inimical to some. Research is like a fiery or impetuous thing. Such research should be useful, beneficial and accessible to the society,” Dr. Shastry noted. Dr. N.S. Taranath was conferred with the award and felicitated with his wife. KIKS Director Dr. N.K. Lolakshi presided. CESCK Planning Director Dr. N.M. Talwar delivered the felicitation address. Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, Dr. M.M. Kalburgi Rashtriya Pratishtana, Dharwad members Dr. Siddanagouda Patil, Vijaya M. Kalburgi, Hanumakshi Gogi and others were present.
