Downtown restaurant Hot Pizza Cold Beer closes

ST. LOUIS — Hot Pizza Cold Beer has closed at 610 Washington Avenue downtown. The restaurant from the team behind Sugarfire Smoke House and Hi-Pointe Drive-In opened in February 2024 by the corner of Washington and North Sixth Street.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to keep our doors open,” a sign posted on Hot Pizza Cold Beer’s doors reads. “Thank you so much for your business and support!”
A call to the restaurant on Monday went unanswered, while a call to one of its co-owners was not immediately returned.
Hot Pizza Cold Beer took over the former Pi Pizzeria space on the same block as a Hi-Pointe Drive-In location and across the street from a Sugarfire Smoke House.
The restaurant’s signature offering was the P.I.M.P. Slice, an oversized single slice of pizza. The slice cost $17, which included up to six toppings of your choice, when this restaurant critic tried it for my April 2024 review.
“A corner of the slice’s crust is draped over the edge of a tray that can easily accommodate a whole chicken Parm sandwich and a side of fries,” I wrote then. “You can try to pick up the slice, but I recommend doing so only briefly for the obligatory video for your socials.”
St. Louis Magazine first reported the closure.
