Donald Trump Missed The Nobel — But FIFA Might Just Give Him A 'Peace Prize'

In what sounds like a possible plot twist, FIFA - the global football body - has decided to launch its own 'Peace Prize'. The timing has drawn attention as the announcement comes amid United States President Donald Trump's obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize. Despite jockeying from his fellow Republicans, various world leaders and — most vocally — himself, Trump failed to secure the Nobel Peace Prize for himself. FIFA To Award Peace Prize There is a new worldwide peace prize on the scene and it has been created by FIFA, not Nobel. FIFA has introduced 'Peace Prize' under which it aims to recognise an individual's actions for peace and unity. The first winner will receive the award from FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Friday, 5 December during the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington DC. According to FIFA, the person who has "taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace" and "united people across the world" will win the prize. Infantino said earlier Wednesday that, “in an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it’s fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace.” FIFA said the award, which Infantino will present this year, will be bestowed annually “on behalf of fans from all around the world.” Will Donald Trump Get FIFA's Peace PrizeFIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has a close relationship with President Donald Trump, was asked if Trump would be the first recipient of first such award. On this, Infantino said, "On the 5th of December, you will see." He was speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, shortly after Trump addressed the same event. Earlier, Infantino made clear that he sees Trump as a champion of world peace. Before the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize, he wrote on Instagram that Trump “definitely deserves” the award for his efforts toward a peace deal in Gaza. The next day, the Nobel laureate was not Trump but María Corina Machado, a pro-democracy activist in Venezuela. However, the FIFA president did not shy away from his relationship with the US President. “I’m really lucky. I have a great relationship with President Trump, who I consider really a close friend,” Infantino said. “Of course, he’s been very, very helpful in everything we do for the World Cup. ... He has such an incredible energy and this is something that I really admire. He does things. He does what he says. He says what he thinks. He says, actually, what many people think as well, but maybe don’t dare to say. And that’s why he’s so successful.”
