The largest pizza chain in the world, Domino's Pizza, has added a new "Specialty Pizza" to its menu—The Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza—and launched it with an ad campaign that features the character, Donna Meagle, from Parks and Recreation, whose catchphrase on the show was “Treat Yo Self!” Why It Matters Consumers can get a medium-sized Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza for just $9.99, which falls below the average cost of a medium Domino’s pizza, which ranges from $13–$15. This positions Domino’s as a more affordable option for consumers who are struggling with ongoing inflation and rising food prices. What To Know Domino's launched its new Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza in stores nationwide on Monday, November 10, and it joins the existing line-up of chef-inspired “Specialty Pizzas,” which include the popular People's Pizza-Deluxe, Philly Cheese Steak, and Pacific Veggie. On a classic Domino’s pizza base, the Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza features grilled chicken breast, creamy ranch dressing, smoked bacon, jalapeños, provolone (a mild Italian cow’s milk cheese), mozzarella, and a drizzle of buffalo sauce. It’s available as a medium-sized pizza for $9.99 as part of Domino’s Mix and Match deal, which lets customers choose two or more menu items for a fixed price per item (typically $6.99 for carryout or $8.99 for delivery, with Specialty Pizzas priced at $9.99). To launch the new pizza, Domino’s teamed up with comedian and actress Retta, who is best known for playing the role of the no-nonsense Donna Meagle on Parks and Recreation. Meagle—a strong advocate for living a luxurious lifestyle—has a famous catchphrase, “Treat Yo Self,” which Domino’s is using in the TV commercials, which are expected to start airing soon, to encourage customers to indulge in specialty pizzas any day of the year, not just on special occasions. What People Are Saying Kate Trumbull, Domino's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said: "Typically, specialty pizzas come with premium prices, but at Domino's, we've proudly partnered with the 'Treat Yo Self' queen, Retta, to tell customers they don't have to wait for a great deal to treat themselves to our most delicious, craveable pizzas–they're $9.99 every day of the year!" What Happens Next The Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza is now available to order at all participating Domino's locations in the United States. Domino’s and Retta’s advertising campaign is expected to roll out nationally over the coming weeks.
