Dolphins Could Part Ways With WR Tyreek Hill: Report

Prior to Monday night’s matchup with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins fans were wondering when star receiver Tyreek Hill would finally snap out of his funk and play like the All-Pro wideout they’ve grown used to seeing.
And it looked for part of that game against the Jets that Hill had finally flipped a switch.
He logged six catches for 67 yards through the first two-and-a-half quarters, but then he suffered one of the more gruesome injuries seen in recent memory midway through the third quarter.
Hill left with a leg injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game. It was initially reported in the fourth quarter that he suffered a dislocated knee and multiple ligament tears, but the full extent of the damage wasn’t truly known until Tuesday morning.

It was revealed that Hill had suffered multiple torn ligaments, including a torn ACL, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season and his status for the 2026 season was called into question as well.
Some sports doctors even claimed Hill’s injury could be serious enough to be career-ending, though that’s not been confirmed by anyone close to the team.
If Hill’s injury is bad enough to sideline him for any part of 2026, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Dolphins could move on from the Pro Bowl wideout this offseason to avoid having to pay $16 million in guaranteed after the new league year.

“There are certainly questions about whether or not he will be ready for the start of 2026, and whether he will be on the Dolphins at that point,” Pelissero reported. “He does have a $5 million roster bonus, an $11 million injury and full guarantee that is set to kick in if he is on the roster the third day of the league year in March.
“However, there is no injury guarantee at this point. It’s possible that the Dolphins could move on. Tyreek Hill now 32 years old, facing a long road to recovery. Much more complicated than just a torn ACL.”
After back-to-back 1,700-yard seasons his first two years in Miami in 2022 and 2023, Hill took a serious step back last year, finishing with 81 catches, 959 yards, and six touchdowns.
Some believed he and the Dolphins were heading toward a divorce over the summer after Hill made it known he wanted to be traded at the end of last season, but the coaching staff talked him into fully committing to this season.
