The parent company of Dollywood has closed two of their other amusement parks in Georgia.
WSB-TV reports that Malibu Norcross, an arcade and go-kart amusement center in Gwinnet County, and Mountasia family entertainment center in Cobb County, both in Georgia, have recently been shut down.
Malibu Norcross and Mountasia were among the assets acquired by Hershend Family Entertainment Corporation when they bought the Palace Entertainment’s 24 parks and attractions in the United States in May of this year.
Pennsylvania amusement parks Dutch Wonderland and Kennywood are among the parks formerly operated by Palace Entertainment, now owned by Herschend.
Herschend jointly owns Dollywood, along with singer Dolly Parton through her Dolly Parton Productions entertainment company.
“These centers have played an important role in their communities, and we’re incredibly grateful to the hosts who’ve created so many joyful memories for families,” said Andrew Wexler, Herschend CEO, in a statement to WSB-TV.
“This decision is in no way a reflection on the hosts or the quality of the experiences offered, but rather a recognition that Family Entertainment Centers operate differently than the types of attractions we are best structured to support,” the statement read.
