Dolly Parton is setting the record straight on her health after her sister, Freida, asked fans to “pray” for the country star.
“I ain’t dead yet!” the singer, 79, captioned a new video shared via X Wednesday.
In the clip, Parton explained that she wanted to address her medical issues head-on as “everybody thinks that I’m sicker than I am.”
“Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” she said. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease. Those that seemed to be real concerned, which I appreciate, and I appreciate your prayers.”
“I’m a person of faith. I can always use the prayers for anything and everything. But I want you to know that I’m OK. I’ve got some problems, as I’ve mentioned,” she continued.
“Back when my husband Carl [Thomas Dean] was very sick — that was for a long time. And then, when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself. So, I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of.”
Parton went on to share that her several health concerns stemmed from her decision to finally address her issues. However, she insists that the problems are “nothing major.”
Parton’s update comes after her sister shared on Facebook that she had been “up all night praying” for the country icon.
“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” Freida wrote.
“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
As Page Six reported last month, Parton postponed her Las Vegas residency until September 2026 after doctors told her she had to undergo “a few procedures.”
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she explained in a statement at the time.
“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.”
Back in June, Parton promised fans that she wasn’t “quittin’ the business” yet — just needed a break from music following her husband’s heartbreaking death in March.
The country star also canceled her Sept. 17 appearance at her Dollywood theme park because she was recovering from a kidney stone that developed into an infection.
“The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling around this minute, so you need a few days to get better,’” she said in a video explaining her absence. “So he suggested I not go to Dollywood today.”
