Dolly Parton is postponing six concerts slated for December at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In a message to fans on social media, the Country Music Hall of Fame member says that “health challenges” she’s been dealing with have derailed her rehearsals for the concerts.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” the 79-year-old wrote on Instagram. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

Parton continued that she wouldn’t be able to give the fans the performance “that you deserve to see” and that she wants “to be at my best for you.” As Parton put it, she needs time to “get show ready.”
But she also assuaged any fears that something serious was amiss. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she wrote. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures in life.”

The concerts, a mini-residency of sorts, were set for Dec. 4 through 13, during the heart of the National Finals Rodeo competition in Las Vegas, a popular period for country artists to perform in the city. The shows would have marked Parton’s first time playing Vegas since 1993. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored at the new dates, which have yet to be announced. Refunds are also available.
“I love you and thank you for understanding,” Parton signed her note.
