Dolly Parton, 79, delays Las Vegas residency so she can 'slow down' amid 'health challenges'

Dolly Parton has revealed she is postponing her Las Vegas residency by a year due to “health challenges”.

The country music legend, 79, pulled out of an appearance at her Dollywood theme park earlier this month due to a a kidney stone.

The 9 to 5 singer – who was recently named a Guinness World Records Icon – has explained that she is now suffering from more health issues and must undergo “a few procedures”.

“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Parton said.

“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.’

“As I joked with them, it must be for my 1,000-mile check-up, although it’s not my usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

She continued: “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.

“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.

“While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say.”

She added: “And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.’

“I love you and thank you for understanding.”

Her Vegas residency was due to begin on December 4 and conclude on December 13.

The new run will start on September 17, 2026, and end on September 26, 2026.

Earlier this month, Parton – whose husband Carl Dean died in March – told fans she had a kidney stone.

She recorded a video message for fans, informing them that she was unable to travel to her Tennessee park for an event.

“I know. I’m here, you’re there, and you’re wondering why that is,” she said.

“Well, I had a little problem. I had a kidney stone, which was causing me a lot of problems.

“Turns out there was an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be travelling around this minute. You need a few days to get better.’

“So he suggested I don’t go to Dollywood today. I want to make this clear, I was looking so forward to it.”

She concluded: “Don’t worry about me, I’m going to be OK. I just can’t do it today.”
