Doggy Daycare Employee Calls for Help, What Staff Discover Shocks Them

A doggy daycare and boarding facility received a surprising phone call from one of their employees who needed rescuing from the kennels, and what they discovered left the internet in stitches. In an August 29 TikTok video by @gunners.getaway, an employee at the New York doggy daycare, picked up the phone expecting a client inquiry. Instead, the call came from inside the building from a coworker who needed assistance in the room with the dog kennels. The short clip, which was viewed over 634,000 times, shows the employee filming while walking past a row of wagging tails and barking dogs to investigate. The person finally discovered the colleague who called for help standing behind a locked gate. One hand was on her hip while the other held onto the gate. She tried to hold back laughter at the predicament she had got herself into. Newsweek reached out to @gunners.getaway via email last week for additional information and comment. Meanwhile, the shelter dog loved having her in the kennel with him. The dog stood between the worker's legs as she waited to get out. It's as if he planned the lock-in to keep her around. Lighthearted moments like these often strike a chord with viewers because they reveal the human side of animal care work, which includes long hours, unpredictable pets and mistakes that happen along the way. About 2 million people in the United States work in a range of occupational activities involving animals, such as livestock confinement, dairy farming, researchers and animal handlers, according to an article published by Science Direct. Nearly 200,000 workers are employed in animal care and services, including kennel attendants, groomers, stable hands, zoo keepers and animal trainers. This likely wouldn't be the first time a dog tricked someone into being locked in a kennel, given the sheer number of those who work closely with animals. Even pet parents feel manipulated by their dogs occasionally. One woman was cleaning her dog's kennel when he used his nose to close the door shut. Viewer Reactions With over 134,700 likes and 165 comments, TikTok users couldn't stop laughing at the accident and the dog's reaction. "He looks so happy to have a roommate," wrote a viewer, while a second echoed: "The dog didn't seem to mind." A third person commented: "Aww, they must be a bonded pair."
