For those yearning for a furry companion but lack time at home, certain breeds demand far less attention than others. A high-energy dog simply wouldn’t work if your schedule is already busy. So with that being said, dog behaviourist Will Atherton told his 900,000 TikTok followers about three particular breeds suited to those leading busy lifestyles. It goes without saying that all dogs do need care and attention – no matter what the breeds are – but the lower-energy pooches may be more manageable for those who don’t have hours a day to spend on walking and training. Always do your research before adopting a dog. You can start by checking out the three breeds that Will suggests busy people consider… Will personally owns an English Mastiff, describing his pooch as a “joy when it comes to my busy schedule”. His canine companion “spends half her day snoozing, the rest of the day snoring”, which means she’s only “awake and doing anything” for brief periods. He continued: “Other than that, give her some cuddles, give her some food, a comfy place to sleep, and she’s happy as can be!”. According to Will, everything he outlined regarding the English Mastiff equally applies to the St. Bernard. “Between the two – simply which one do you prefer the look of,” he noted. For busy individuals seeking a dog somewhat smaller than the previous two breeds, Will suggests the English Bulldog. He explained the breed is “slightly more tenacious” and could prove a “little bit more of a challenge to train” than the other pair. However, he added: “If you’re busy and you want a smaller dog that’s great in any environment, that’s a joy to be with, packed full of character and will happily snooze the day away while you’re gone – check out an English Bulldog.” His clip has since racked up more than 300,000 likes, with countless followers weighing in with their own experiences of the breeds he highlighted. One viewer wrote: “I swear my St. Bernard thought he was a decorative rug 90% of the time.” Meanwhile, another added: “English Bulldogs are my favourite breed. They have the funniest personalities.”
