The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently trying to win back-to-back World Series, but soon the team will need to focus on free agency. The Dodgers do not have many weaknesses, but the team could use a more consistent outfield. Teoscar Hernández is not a great defender, but he makes up for it at the plate. Andy Pages is struggling right now, but was solid in the regular season. However, the final outfield spot is where the Dodgers could use an upgrade. The team signed Michael Conforto last offseason, but he has not been good. Alex Call has filled in at times, but he is not a long-term option. Given the Dodgers’ spending habits and aggressive nature, Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston predicted the team would sign Kyle Tucker. (Photo by Vaughn Ridley/Getty Images) Spotrac projects Tucker to sign a 10-year, $401 million deal in free agency. That projection limits which teams can actually be in play for him. The Dodgers have demonstrated their willingness to spend big on superstars in order to maintain their winning ways. If Tucker is willing to take a deal with heavy deferrals like other Dodgers stars, he could join an already loaded roster. Many baseball fans are already tired of the Dodgers’ spending on championships, claiming the team is ruining the game. Dave Roberts proclaimed the Dodgers can really “ruin baseball” by winning the World Series during the team’s National League Championship Series celebration. Adding a superstar like Tucker would really ruin baseball for many fans. Anything can happen during the course of a season, but it’s hard to imagine any team beating the Dodgers in a postseason series if they add Tucker and are healthy. Tucker did not have his best year, but was still an All-Star. His numbers at Wrigley Field were not great, so perhaps playing at Dodger Stadium could get him back to smashing home runs like he did the last four years. Tucker has hit 134 home runs since 2021. His OPS was down 47 points this year from what it was in the previous four years. He is still one of the best hitters in baseball and was perhaps a victim of his home ballpark. He also spent a chunk of the season playing through a hand injury. He would be a clear upgrade for the Dodgers in the outfield.
