After the Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 3 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays via a walk-off home run from Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the 18th inning, there was a lot to be excited about. Shohei Ohtani launched two home runs earlier that same game and is set to be the starting pitcher of Game 4, with the first pitch scheduled 17 hours after the conclusion of Game 3. He hurled 72 pitches and was the 10th and final pitcher out of the bullpen on Monday night. Even after the performance of his life, he spoke highly of Ohtani after the game. I don’t think there’s a word to describe it other than he’s the GOAT. But, I mean, just getting to be teammates with him is a great honor. “So, I mean, that guy, he’s going to go out there and shove tomorrow, and we’ll be like, man he was on base nine times yesterday and he’s not tired at all, so…” In addition to the pair of home runs and doubles Ohtani collected, he was walked five times (four of which were intentional). It was a lot of time on base for Ohtani on Monday evening, but to Klein’s point, he still has to go to the mound on Tuesday. The last time Ohtani was pitching, believe it or not, it was another historic outing. The three-time MVP punched out 10 batters, walked three, and allowed just two hits across 6+ innings of work. In addition to his pitching, he went 3-for-3 with three home runs as a batter, one of which left Dodger Stadium.
