Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Has Embarrassing Blunder in Historic World Series Game

The Los Angeles Dodgers have enjoyed plenty of memorable moments in their ongoing playoff run courtesy of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, but there was one decision from his historic Game 3 performance on Monday that he’d probably rather forget. Ohtani was central to the Dodgers’ 18-inning victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the Fall Classic, as he reached base a record nine times with two home runs. What’s more, Ohtani was preparing to pitch less than a day after the marathon game concluded. “It wasn’t just that no game like the one Ohtani forged had ever happened before,” Tom Verducci wrote for Sports Illustrated. “Four extra-base hits and nine times on base by the next day’s starting pitcher? Come on, folks.” LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – OCTOBER 27: Shohei Ohtani #17 of the Los Angeles Dodgers looks on before game three of the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Dodger Stadium on October 27, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. But he was so taxed by the effort that he made an embarrassing wardrobe blunder at one point during the game. “Ohtani kept ducking into the clubhouse between at-bats to make sure he was hydrated and to treat his fatigue,” Verducci added. “At one point, so haggard was Ohtani that he returned to the dugout wearing an alternate cap, one with a script ‘D’ rather than the interlocking ‘LA.’ A coach whispered in his ear, ‘Dude, you’ve got the wrong hat.’ Ohtani spun on his heels and returned to his locker to get the proper one.” Coming out of the dugout with the wrong wardrobe might be embarrassing, but it’s understandable if Ohtani had his mind elsewhere between innings of his heroic effort. And at least someone stopped him from taking the field in the wrong hat. More MLB: Broadcaster Had 3-Word Reaction to Dodgers Ace Warming Up in 18th Inning
