Doctor gives update on victims injured in Grand Blanc Township church attack

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. – The medical chief of staff at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital provided details on the victims hurt from the attack at a church in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday.
It happened at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Four people are dead, eight others were injured and the suspected shooter was also killed.
According to Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye, everyone who was at the church when the attack happened has been accounted for.
Police are still investigating the scene, so they are asking the public to stay away from the area.
Dr. Michael Danic, the medical chief of staff at Henry Ford Genesys, provided an update on the victims injured in the attack during a press conference on Sept. 29.
According to Danic, Henry Ford Genesys had a total of eight people injured in the attack at the hospital, with ages ranging from 6 to 78 years old.
Five of the victims suffered gunshot wounds, and three were being treated for smoke inhalation.
Two of the people who suffered smoke inhalation had been discharged from the hospital.
Danic said one of the victims who was taken to the hospital on Sunday died in the emergency room.
One victim is in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, Danic said. Another victim is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
A child injured in the attack was initially taken to Henry Ford Genesys but was then transferred to a different hospital. The extent of the child’s injuries is not known.
