DMK making bogus claims on industrial investments, job generation, alleges Palaniswami

The DMK government has misled people with its claim of having generated 36 lakh jobs, and spends hundreds of crores through advertisements to perpetuate the “lie”, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K.Palaniswami charged in Pollachi on Wednesday.

“How much investment have you brought in from your five foreign trips? How many MoUs have been signed by your regime? How many industries have begun operations?…” Mr. Palaniswami demanded to know from Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.

“Your claims of securing ₹10 lakh crore worth of investment, with 76 % in operation mode are bogus. The official investment is only ₹68,000 crore. The rest is only on paper,” Mr. Palaniswami said.

In reality, lakhs of jobs were created during the AIADMK rule from 2011 to 2021. “The DMK regime has ended up taking credit from the groundwork of the AIADMK government for investments close to ₹6 lakh crore,” Mr Palaniswami claimed.

Murder of aged couples in the western districts by criminals was a reflection of the DMK government’s failure on the law and order front. “It is ridiculous on Mr. Stalin’s part to appeal to the people to eschew drugs now after fostering the culture that has led to the disturbing law and order situation,” Mr. Palaniswami said.

Mr. Palaniswami said that Mr. Stalin was jealous of the crowd turnout for the AIADMK campaign, and alleged that the “repeated entry” of 108 ambulances into crowded meeting venues was a deliberate design to cause distraction.

The AIADMK will work for fructification of Anamalayar-Nallar and Pandiyar-Punnambazha schemes after assuming power in 2026, he said.

Speaking at Udumalpet in Tiruppur district later, Mr. Palaniswami said the AIADMK was certain to form its government next year.

The AIADMK, he said, was built as a party for the poor by former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa. Poor people got access to higher education. The Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education rose from 31 in 2011 to 54 (the highest among States) in 2021 during the AIADMK governance.

Mr. Stalin, on the other hand, was focusing on prosperity of his family at the cost of the people, Mr. Palaniswami charged.
