Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday (October 2) took part in the vibrant Mangaluru Dasara festivities at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple and later attended the grand Pili Nalike Season 10, organised by the Pili Nalike Prathishtana founded by Congress leader Mithun Rai.
At Kudroli temple
Shivakumar, who visited the Kudroli temple, lauded the grandeur of Mangaluru Dasara. “I wasn’t sure if I could make it here today, but it feels like Goddess Sharada herself summoned me. Visiting this sacred place established by Sri Narayana Guru is my fortune. Witnessing the grandeur of Mangaluru Dasara brings me immense joy,” he said.
He joined devotees in the traditional chariot procession, paid respects at the Brahmashree Narayana Guru shrine, and offered prayers to Goddess Sharada and the Navadurga at the temple’s Darbar Hall. The temple committee honoured him with offerings dedicated to Goddess Sharada.
Temple president Jairaj H Somasundaram, treasurer Padmaraj R Poojary, MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, and MLC Manjunath Bhandari were among those present during his visit.

Later in the evening, Shivakumar attended Pili Nalike season 10, a tiger dance festival deeply rooted in the coastal region’s culture. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Where there is a will, there is a way, and God exists where devotees are present. The tiger dance has been part of the region’s tradition for generations, and continuing this competition for 10 years is commendable. People here live in a holy land where culture, art, literature, and livelihood come alive.”
The event was graced by prominent personalities, including actors Suniel Shetty, Kicha Sudeep, Raj B Shetty, Pooja Hegde, music director Gurukiran, cricketers Ajinkya Rahane and Jitesh Sharma, district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, housing minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, and Pili Nalike Prathishtana president Mithun Rai.
