Disheartened by CU’s silencing of expression; Robins is an ally to the Jewish community (Letters)
Disheartened by CU’s silencing of expression
I was disheartened to read that CU Boulder appears to have bowed to fascist suppression of free speech pressure by sending police to shut down an on-campus film screening about Palestinians. I would have hoped for more courageous leadership that supports the expression of views from both sides of the conflict. I appreciate the Daily Camera bringing this seemingly minor but significant incident to light, and I hope to hear more about it. That’s the purpose of a free press these days when truth is difficult to discern.

Robins is an ally to the Jewish community
As a proud member of Boulder’s Jewish community, I want to share why I am confidently supporting Jenny Robins for Boulder City Council. My support comes not from campaign talking points, but from years of witnessing her stand with our community in meaningful ways.
Jenny and her family have been consistent allies to the Jewish community here in Boulder for as long as I have known her — over a decade. Through their family business, they have supported numerous Jewish organizations in our city by providing media and video assets, as well as with fundraising efforts. These efforts helped elevate initiatives and expand reach. This was not done for recognition, but out of genuine care, friendship and concern.
Jenny has also shown up personally. She attended the community vigil in the wake of October 7, she joined us at the Run for Their Lives walk before the June 1 anti-Semitic terror attack, and returned the following week to walk again in solidarity with our community. Her presence was quiet but powerful — she came simply to listen, to grieve with us, and to stand beside us during a painful and all-too-familiar time.
In an effort to not exploit us or the Boulder RFTL, Jenny has chosen to NOT participate in the weekly walks during the campaign season, unlike some other candidates. To me, that decision speaks volumes about her character, her integrity, and the authenticity of her support.
Jenny has been there for me, and for us, long before she was a candidate, and I know she will continue to be an inclusive voice for all communities in Boulder. For these and many other reasons, I am proud to support her and honored to be her friend.
