American stars across the sporting landscape have condemned the shooting of conservative commentator figure Charlie Kirk.
The 31-year-old Kirk was killed during a stop on his American Comeback tour when a bullet struck him in the neck as he took questions at an outdoor event.
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart called the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder “disgusting and sad” in a social media post about the shocking act of political violence that took place on the campus of Utah Valley University.

In a series of Instagram Story posts, the Giants rookie quarterback condemned the killing while offering prayers to Kirk’s family, the NY Post reports.
“Praying for him and his family,” Dart wrote in one post along with a heartbroken emoji. “Charlie did great things for our country!! Political Violence NEEDS TO STOP!! Pray for our country man. This is disgusting and sad.”

In a second post, Dart wrote, “May God watch over him and his family!” while sharing a post from the Team Trump account on Instagram.
Dart also shared a photo of Kirk with his wife, Erika, and their two children and another of a Fox News post that included a bible verse that Erika posted on X hours before Kirk was shot.
The quarterback also shared a video of the shooting while also writing, “This is some bull s*** man!!! Absolutely sickening!!!” in a since-deleted Instagram Story post, according to the Daily Mail.

Dart was born in Kaysville, Utah, which about 60 miles north of Utah Valley University’s campus in Orem.
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also reacted to the tragedy with a social media post on his X account.
“Thank you for your strong witness for Christ @charliekirk11,” he wrote.
“Thank you for pursuing truth and leading your family as a husband and father. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their soul and the souls of all the faithful departed.”

Butker, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, also shared a text message exchange he had with Kirk in 2024 which referenced a verse from the Bible.
That year there were calls for Butker to be sacked from the Chiefs after he shared his extreme beliefs that many regards as “sexist”.

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson was another NFL player to condemn Kirk’s assassination.
“Celebrating the death of someone you don’t share the same beliefs as is wild,” Jackson said.
“Seeing it play out in real time is disgusting.”
Social media was awash with hundreds of other posts from American sports stars reacting in horror to the incident and the fallout.
The New York Yankees held a moment of silence before their MLB game against the Detroit Tigers in The Bronx.
The Yankees held a minute silence for Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was hit in the neck by the fatal round that had been shot from roughly 200 metres away with a long gun.
The conservative activist was rushed to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery before succumbing to his injuries.
