Dinesh Karthik Picks India's Combined T20 WC XI, Includes 8 Members Of 2024 Team

Former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who played 60 T20Is for Men in Blue from 2006 to 2022, has picked India’s all-time T20 World Cup XI. In his list of XI players picked on the Cricbuzz show, Karthik included eight players of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup title under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, but surprisingly, Karthik didn’t pick Rohit as the captain of his India’s T20 World Cup XI.
Rohit, who announced his retirement from T20Is post India’s win in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, holds the world record for winning the most T20Is as captain, and he also tops the list of batters with the most runs and centuries in T20Is.
In his team, Karthik included Rohit as opener along with Virat Kohli, who won the POTM award in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. India’s current T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is the No. 3 batter in Karthik’s team, and the 35-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai is followed by Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, who is also the captain of the side.
Dhoni led India to their first ever T20 World Cup title win in 2007. Under his leadership, Men in Blue defeated Pakistan by five runs in the final match played at The Wanderers in Johannesburg on September 24. Yuvraj was an integral member of the Indian team in that tournament, and during the match played between India and England in Durban on September 19, 2007, he hammered English pacer Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.
From the 2007 T20 World Cup winning team, Karthik also included his former India, MI and KKR teammate Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan played all seven matches of the 2007 T20 World Cup for the MS Dhoni-led side and picked up 7 wickets. He also got a chance to bat in two fixtures, and he added 8 runs to the team’s total.
Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah are the other five members of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning team that managed to find a place in Karthik’s combined T20 World Cup XI.
Pandya was Rohit’s deputy in the T20 World Cup 2024. He scored 144 runs in six innings of eight matches and also picked up 11 wickets, which included figures of 3/20 in the final played against South Africa at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bumrah picked up 15 wickets to win the Player of the Tournament award, and left-arm pacer Arshdeep accounted for the dismissal of 17 batters to finish as the joint-highest wicket-taker. Kuldeep, on the other hand, played five matches and dismissed 10 batters.
