DENVER (KDVR) — A family-owned and operated dim sum and noodle restaurant is moving into the former home of Tacos Tequila Whiskey and Rolling Pin Pizza on Colfax Avenue. Ma’s Kitchen Dim Sum & Noodles is slated to open at 1514 York Street along Colfax Avenue in early October, and says it will offer handmade dumplings, noodles and “traditional small plates.” The restaurant’s menu was developed under the guidance of chef and co-owner Xi Nuan Zheng, according to Ma’s Kitchen, which said Zheng trained for months in top dim sum houses in China alongside “renowned” dumpling and noodle chefs. “Guests can expect classic steamed dumplings, handmade noodles, and a curated menu that blends tradition with fresh, high-quality ingredients,” the restaurant said in a release earlier this week. Xi Nuan Zheng is opening the restaurant alongside his brother Xi Yong Zheng, who said he and his sibling are “proud to contribute something new and authentic to the neighborhood.” “Colfax has always been a hub of culture, food, and community,” Xi Yong Zheng said. Ma’s Kitchen said it will be the first dim sum and noodle house in the area and hopes to “not only introduce unique flavors to Denver diners,” but also “spotlight the resilience of Colfax’s independent business community.” The restaurant said it is also “committed” to hiring locally, supporting local businesses, and creating a “warm gathering space” for neighbors and visitors. “We’re proud to contribute something new and authentic to the neighborhood, especially at a time when so many local businesses are working hard to overcome the challenges of the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit construction,” Xi Yong Zheng said. Xi Yong Zheng also owns Okinawa Japanese Cuisine, located right next door. Ma’s Kitchen said an official grand opening date will be announced once permit and inspections are completed.
