A White House press conference on Thursday was briefly interrupted when a pharmaceutical executive fainted inside the Oval Office and required immediate medical attention. The event, hosted by President Donald Trump, was meant to announce a new deal with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk to lower the cost of obesity medications. Videos of the incident show the man, identified by witnesses as Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay, losing his balance and falling to the ground. Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, quickly intervened to help Findlay and prevent serious injury. The press corps was swiftly escorted out of the Oval Office while Findlay received medical attention. The short clip has since gone viral on social media, sparking questions about the reactions of other officials, particularly Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. "RFK Jr's response to someone collapsing nearby him was to haul ass out of the room as quickly as possible," one comment read on X. Another user wrote, "A man just collapsed during Donald Trump’s Oval Office announcement. HHS Secretary RFK Jr. can be seen quickly leaving the scene." "RFK Jr. Health Secretary’s sprint raises eyebrows after colleague collapses mid-event," added another X user. In response to the buzz, White House Press Secretary Kush Desai clarified that Kennedy did not actually leave the room. "The Secretary rushed to get medical assistance while others tended to the man, you ghoul," Desai posted on X. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that, “During the Most Favored Nations Oval Office Announcement, a representative with one of the companies fainted. The White House Medical Unit quickly jumped into action, and the gentleman is okay." The press conference resumed shortly after.
