Kristin Cavallari is setting the record straight on a long-standing rumor that she once slapped Lauren Conrad, her on-and-off screen rival from Laguna Beach and The Hills. Speaking candidly during a recent episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, Cavallari directly addressed the claim, which was revisited during a rewatch of her infamous first appearance on The Hills. The Context The episode she recapped on her podcast, titled “It’s On Bitch,” originally aired in 2009 and marked Cavallari’s return to MTV’s scripted reality world. The episode had cast members suggesting she had physically assaulted Conrad during their teenage years—a claim Cavallari forcefully denied. Cavallari said the rumor likely stems from fabricated drama within the Hills storyline. Her return to The Hills marked Conrad’s departure from the show and producers seemed interested in carrying over their feud from Laguna Beach to The Hills, pitting them against each other. What To Know During Tuesday’s podcast, Cavallari said she had “no idea” what the girls were talking about when they said that she slapped Conrad. “I don’t think that’s true,” Cavallari said during the podcast. “I never was physical with Lauren ever. … I never slapped Lauren, I’m gonna go on record here.” Cavallari said she vaguely remembered people saying to her that she slapped Conrad but that she was never physical with Conrad “ever.” She emphasized that she and Conrad had a cordial relationship after high school, calling their relationship friends, and said they even vacationed together. They went on a trip to the Bahamas with Heidi Pratt and Stephen Colletti. Cavallari added that they “actually had a lot of fun together” on several different occasions. Cavallari expressed frustration at the persistent rumor, noting that she would run her mouth but would never actually get physical with somebody. “I would love Lauren to clear that up because I think this is complete bulls***,” Cavallari said. During the recap of the episode on her podcast, Cavallari said producers were setting the stage for her to be the villain, even if it wasn’t true. During the show, Cavallari was often pitted against the other girls, specifically Audrina Patridge, with a love triangle with Justin Bobby. Cavallari said on the podcast that she didn’t ever actually date Justin Bobby and only saw him while they were filming. Cavallari and Conrad have recently reunited for the Laguna Beach reunion special that’s slated to air in 2026 to commemorate the show’s 20th anniversary. Cavallari shared a photo of the two of them on her Instagram and said fans can now put away their “team Lauren” and “team Kristin” shirts. What’s Next The Laguna Beach 20th anniversary reunion will air in spring 2026 and feature the original cast, including Colletti, Lo Bosworth, Talan Torriero and others. Cavallari, Conrad and Colletti are also serving as executive producers on the project, which aims to reflect on the legacy of the show that helped launch their careers. As Cavallari continues her podcast series recapping The Hills, she’s also continuing to dismantle old narratives—one denied rumor at a time.
