Dick Van Dyke jokes it would be 'funny' if he 'didn't make it' to upcoming 100th birthday

Dick Van Dyke thinks it would be humorous to die just shy of turning 100.
While discussing his upcoming triple-digit birthday, the actor reportedly joked during an event over the weekend, “That’s right. I’m not officially 100 until Dec. [13]. Two months. Two months.”
According to People, he added, “It’d be funny if I didn’t make it.”
Van Dyke was joined by his wife, Arlene Silver, at the Vandy High Tea event in Malibu, Calif., which raised funds to benefit the Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the Dick Van Dyke Museum, currently in development.
The “Dick Van Dyke Show” star went on to reflect on the milestone of making it to 100, admitting that he doesn’t know what he did to achieve it.
“I brag sometimes about how I made it to 100, and the truth is, if I had known I was going to live this long, I would’ve taken better care of myself,” he confessed.
“And it is frustrating because I don’t know what I did right. Other than her [Arlene], I didn’t do anything right.”
What Van Dyke — who married Silver, 54, in 2012 — failed to mention is that he still hits the gym.
“Filming an episode of Men’s Health and I went to the gym and who should be there but 99 year-old Dick Van Dyke working out on every machine,” Rick Springfield posted on Instagram last month alongside a photo of Van Dyke on one of the machines.
The musician quipped, “I thought I was doing well at 76, but Dick got up from the chest press machine and did a little dance step before I left! ❤️ Amazing!”
Van Dyke has previously spoken about his commitment to working out.
“I’ve always exercised — three days a week,” the “Mary Poppins” star explained on a January episode of the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast.
“I get down and do a lot of stretching and yoga,” he added, noting that he uses workout machines to get a full body sweat going.
