Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell , will be making history on this year’s series as she does something no other professional dancer has done before on the show. The BBC series will be returning to our screens tonight, Saturday, September 20 , starting with their pre-recorded launch show. The BBC have revealed first look pictures of the launch which show Dianne taking centre stage. The dancer recently revealed that she was pregnant with her boyfriend, Joe Sugg , who she met on the series in 2018. The pair shared the announcement on social media earlier this week saying, “Our little baby boy, we cannot wait to meet you,” alongside a video of them painting a family portrait. They were finalists on the series, but ultimately lost to journalist Stacey Dooley and her partner Kevin Clifton, who were also victims to the Strictly curse and now share a daughter together. Dianne and Joe’s chemistry extended beyond the dance floor and after the show finished they went public with their romance . Five years later, and they are embarking on a new stage in their relationship. Their baby announcement on social media saw an outpour of support from friends, family, fans and of course fellow Strictly professional dancers. This includes Amy Dowden who said: ” Still screaming, dancing and celebrating! So so happy for you both! Magical. Auntie Ames can’t wait xxxx” Karen Hauer added: “Oh my god !! Congratulations !!! So happy for you both!!” The exciting news also means that Dianne will be making history on the show as the first ever pregnant professional dancer. Dianne has confirmed that she will be starring in this year’s Strictly and that she will in fact have a celebrity partner. It is yet to be revealed who she will be coupled with, although we will find out her fate in tonight’s launch episode. In a vlog shared to Joe’s YouTube channel, Dianne said: “I’ve already seen so many people say, ‘That means she can’t do Strictly!’ I am definitely doing Strictly, guys. “What I wanted to achieve here is to actually show that the woman’s body is absolutely incredible. I am still doing Strictly, I ‘m still competing, I have a partner and you’ll see who that is this weekend.” Joe then interjected: “And Dianne’s partner does know, by the way. He didn’t just see the announcement and was like, ‘Oh?’ He does know.” Dianne went on: “He does know and Strictly knew a while ago and they’ve been so supportive of my decision and obviously looking after me as well. So I’m very well looked after at Strictly and loved, very, very much.” Joe also shared: “If you’re a female, especially in sport and stuff, when can you find the time to stop doing what it is you love to try and start a family… But we’re very fortunate. We’ve found a way to make it work. I’ve been panicky dad. “I’ve been asking the midwives about 100 questions, ‘Can Dianne do this?’ ‘Can Dianne do that?’… We know that he’s a healthy little boy and that’s all we know so far. But we’re just so incredibly excited.” On how she’s feeling physically, Dianne added: “I feel really good. There was a point a while back where I wasn’t feeling as great. But I’m feeling really good now. I’ve pre-filmed most of the pro numbers, which is really cool and felt great filming all them. “I almost would forget when I was on the floor, dancing, but it’s so weird to think that when I’m dancing, our little boy is also dancing on Strictly.” It’s unclear exactly how far along Dianne is in her pregnancy, however as they’ve announced the gender of the baby, she must be at least in the second trimester of her pregnancy (around 18 to 22 weeks). This means she would be roughly eight months pregnant at the time of the Strictly Come Dancing final which is believed to be airing on Saturday, December 20. This could mean that if Dianne and her partner progress to the final, she could be just a month away from giving birth to the baby boy. Now, we must all admit that would be quite the impressive feat. Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight, Saturday, 20 September at 6.40PM on BBC One and iPlayer.
