Diamond anniversary celebration at Stourbridge care home

Diamond anniversary celebration at Stourbridge care home

The couple enjoyed a beautiful fine dining buffet in Parkfield Grange’s private dining room, with catering provided by the care home’s excellent chefs. Janet and Anthony received a large number of cards and gifts from loved ones. The celebration was made even more special with the arrival of a personal card of congratulations from King Charles and Queen Camilla, acknowledging the couple’s enduring love and commitment.

Janet reflected on the milestone, saying: “It’s such a lovely day to remember all of the years we have shared together. We’re really so very fortunate to have reached such a milestone in our marriage and to be able to share it with everyone we love.”

Janet and Anthony met in London outside a dance hall and married in 1965. They lived in London for a time but moved to Coventry and then Stourbridge, where they were active members of the local community. Anthony worked in banking and Janet was a medical secretary for a professor at the Children’s Hospital.

When asked about her thoughts on a long marriage, Janet said: “The secret to a happy marriage is patience with each other, being friends but also having your own interests. Anthony and I did a lot of hobbies together such as bridge but have also enjoyed doing our own things.”

Mark Shockledge, Operations Manager at Parkfield Grange, commented: “It has been an absolute honour to support Janet and Anthony in celebrating such a wonderful occasion. Seeing the joy it brought to them, their family, and our community here at Parkfield Grange is truly special. Milestones like these remind us of the importance of love, companionship, and togetherness. For couples living with us, it’s a privilege to provide a home where they can continue to share their lives and create new memories side by side.”
