Diablo 4 Umbrous Aspect: Effect, How to get, and build usage

Diablo 4 has a wide assortment of Legendary Aspects, including the Rogues’ Umbrous Aspect. It’s a very niche ability, and while it’s only really used in a handful of the most meta builds, if you’re the type of player that just builds whatever they want, you could potentially use it. It’s only for the Dark Shroud skill though, so consider that before going on a hunting spree for this particular Legendary Aspect. There was a time when Umbrous Aspect was one of the Rogue’s best Legendary Aspects, and while it’s not quite shining as brightly now, it’s still powerful in the builds that utilize it. If you’re looking to pick this up and learn what it does, we’re here to help you out. What Umbrous Aspect does in Diablo 4Umbrous Aspect is a Rogue Legendary Aspect that can be equipped on Helmets, Chests, Pants, and Amulets, and is in the Defensive Category. In the right build, it’s incredibly important, but it’s also a Lucky Hit ability. It does the following for you in-game:Umbrous Aspect is great, provided you're using Dark Shroud (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)“Lucky Hit: Critical Strikes have up to a [45-65]% chance to grant a free Dark Shroud shadow. How to get Umbrous Aspect in Diablo 4You can always gamble for 'em! (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)If you want Umbrous Aspect, I’ve got some sort of unfortunate news for you, as a Diablo 4 player: It only drops off of gear. That means you’re going to just have to harvest huge piles of Legendary drops from whatever game mode you prefer to play, and use the Blacksmith to break that gear down. You could also get gear from any town’s Purveyor of Curiosities, and spend some Murmuring Obols. However, since Umbrous Aspect can only be equipped to certain gear slots, you’ll want to focus on:HelmetsChestsPantsAmuletsWith any luck, you’ll find it without too much of a hassle. If you prefer to play on the Eternal Servers, you may already have it in your collection. You can check by going to the Collections Tab of your menu, and search your Codex of Power for Umbrous Aspect in Diablo 4.What builds can use Umbrous Aspect in Diablo 4?Technically, any Rogue build in Diablo 4 that runs Dark Shroud can use Umbrous Aspect, but there are a few builds that could potentially use it in the current meta (Season 10). In the past, I’ve seen it used in Penetrating Shot and Barrage Rogue builds, at least, in the leveling versions of the build. I don’t know that it would be as useful in endgame builds, even if it uses Dark Shroud. However, both the leveling and endgame builds of Dance of Knives run Umbrous Aspect, and I think that it could make its way into the build in Season 11. However, it really depends on how important Death’s Pavane is going to be, and if there are other slots we can put Umbrous Aspect, instead of on pants. That’s typically where it goes in Dance of Knives. We’ll just have to wait for a few more weeks, but for now, it’s still quite viable in the current meta.Check out our other Diablo 4 guides and featuresDiablo 4 Season 11: Best build for each class (based on PTR)Diablo 4 Season 11: All Divine Gifts and how to get themDiablo 4 Season 11 release date, and all known features
