DETROIT – NBA City Edition jerseys are special uniforms that celebrate the unique stories, history, and culture of a team’s home city. Each design is a local story that represents the heritage and culture of a specific community. Detroit’s new uniforms bring back the lightning bolt motif on the sides of the jersey and the shorts, a detail from the 1970s and 1980s uniforms. The maroon, yellow, and teal were drawn from several different eras of the franchise. The shorts pair the club’s current logo with the “Detroit Pistons Basketball Club” emblem that was first used when the team relocated from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Detroit, Michigan in 1957. The waistband features a flaming horse logo, channeling the late 1990s and early 2000s as well as the tricolored trim featured on the collar and the arm and leg openings. The Pistons will host eight different City Edition nights this season beginning Nov. 12’s game vs. the Chicago Bulls. All photos credit to the Detroit Pistons.
