Denver Broncos New Stadium Plans Move Forward

The Denver Broncos have officially taken the next step toward building a new stadium in the heart of Denver. As 9News reported, on Wednesday, the team submitted a “Large Development Review” pre-application to the City and County of Denver, marking the first concrete move since naming Burnham Yard as their preferred site. “We’re still very much in the early stages, but this submission is an important step forward,” Broncos President Damani Leech told 9NEWS “Our goal is to make sure these plans are shaped with input from our future neighbors.” The proposal outlines a privately financed, mixed-use development that aims to blend sports, community, and city growth. Early Vision for Burnham Yard Stadium According to the City of Denver’s description, the project includes plans for “a new Broncos football stadium and surrounding mixed-use development.” It will feature both above and below ground infrastructure like new roads, utilities, and open spaces. The proposed site stretches between West 6th and 8th Avenues, west of Osage Street, placing the stadium on the western edge of Burnham Yard to minimize impact on nearby neighborhoods. Leech emphasized the team’s collaborative approach with city officials and community members: “We’ll continue to approach things with humility and respect for Burnham Yard, La Alma Lincoln Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.” The early concept features open park areas, green spaces, restaurants, and housing, aiming to make the site a gathering place for Denver residents and visitors throughout the year. Community Partnership and Next Steps The Broncos’ submission comes less than a day after Denver voters approved the $140 million Vibrant Denver Bond, which funds bridge rebuilds in the Burnham Yard area. These are projects that could align with the stadium’s infrastructure plans. While the application remains conceptual, it signals the team’s intent to move forward with a design process centered around the community. “Our organization is in listen-first mode,” the Broncos said in a statement. “We remain deeply committed to collaborative, inclusive, and transparent engagement.” The team has also partnered with Sasaki, a nationally recognized design firm behind several major Denver projects, to guide the stadium’s master plan. A new website, newstadium.denverbroncos.com, has launched to provide fans with updates as the city and team begin shaping what could become one of the most transformative developments in the history of Denver. As the Broncos are currently 7-2 and atop of the AFC West, fans have even more to be excited about going forward with both their team and the new stadium plans.
